Last, March 24, 2018 (Saturday) the Third Blind Date which aims to raise awareness about our visually impaired brothers and sisters was held at the City Club, located in Makati City. Organized by the James Mackay Foundation and hosted by Mr. Mark Lester Lico, the director of JMF, together with the PR Marketing Manager, Ms. Mafae Belasco. Proceeds of this event will benefit James MacKay Foundation’s main beneficiary, the Philippine National School for the Blind (PNSB).

The event started with 30 excited guests, who are ready to be engaged in this event. Participants were grouped and equally distributed in five different tables. During the event proper, two of the students of Philippine national school for the blind (PNSB) serenaded the guests with a lovely flute performance and heartfelt songs.

Attendees’ of the event enjoyed the experienced and didn’t regret joining. The experience was filled with gratitude as each and every one appreciated the little things in life that we often take for granted. Our sense of sight gives as hope in seeing things beyond our imaginations. The gift of sight gives us the freedom to choose what we want to see but most of us, tend to get distracted and complain in small problems that we have. But people who are not blessed with this sense can definitely see life in the brightest way, they have much appreciation in the slightest things and are contented of what they have.

We also have special guests who graced the occasion; Ali Peek and Nic Belasco (PBA legends) and the host of PTV 4, Ms. Diane who didn’t hesitate to participate in the event.

“It’s so hard, I can’t enjoy the food” Ms. Diane answered when she was asked, how was the experience. She delivered her featured news while she was blind-folded for her to be fully immersed.

Ms. Mafae asked a mommy from the audience, the same question, she answered “the experience was different because I have to use my hands to feel what’s on my plate, I have to use my other senses. And I also have to check on my kids if they’re able to do it on their own or if they need help”

This event blind date “dinner in the dark” goal is to open our hearts and minds while we shut are eyes. It teaches us to be grateful that we can see, hear, feel God’s wonderful creations and praise Him through our voices.
